After the storm

This was the amazing light after heavy rain on the Isle of Arran, with the sun low in the sky.

  • \$\begingroup\$ Lake Ellesmere, near Christchurch, New Zealand. Curious as to what makes it look like Florida (I've never been...) ? ;-) \$\endgroup\$

  • \$\begingroup\$ Wow beautiful shot. How did you take this one? what is your setup? \$\endgroup\$ Nov 30, 2010 at 1:53
  • \$\begingroup\$ I built a water drop rig using a water feeder for rabbits, 1/2" rubber hose, a shut-off tap, and (of all things) an icing tip for cake decorations. Hard to really explain, but basically the water feeder acts as resevoir that feeds to the tap that controls the flow to additional rubber tubing that is "capped" with the icing tip to focus the drop. Generally works well. I then use a very dark room, focus on the impact point, set a one second exposure and fire the flash using the test button. I have more detail on my site: grumpyjohns.com/?p=147 if you want a read. \$\endgroup\$
